Cape Cod Photographer – Vacation

This year, I started offering family and extended family sessions in Cape Cod, MA, and it has been a blast!
I first met this family two years ago (CLICK HERE TO SEE), and since then they’ve added another adorable baby to their ranks. They enjoy vacationing in Cape Cod whenever they can, and this year was extra special because some extended family made the trip during the same week. We started the session by capturing everyone all together, then things calmed down a bit as we enjoyed sunset with a smaller group.

I loved the variety of backdrops at this unique location. There was a dock, a jetty, a sandy beach, dune grass, and lots and lots of shells. We had so much fun exploring all around the place!

And, as usual, the Cape Cod sunset didn’t disappoint! It was so gorgeous that we decided to hang out and enjoy some snacks so that we could stay until the sun disappeared. Not only did we capture some beautiful images, but I think we created some wonderful memories at the same time.

Andover Senior Photographer – Sunset at the beach

It’s always exhilarating when people trust me to do what I love to do, and this gorgeous senior was up for anything! We met at the beach just before sunset, where we laughed, explored, and played until the sun went down. As much as I love photographing babies, it is sometimes refreshing to work with a subject that doesn’t require jokes or silly faces in order to get a smile! And what a beautiful smile she has! North Andover Family Photographer – Spring fun

06.15.16

Spring in New England was incredibly tough for photo sessions this year! The flowers either bloomed too early or too late, and some bushes and trees didn’t flower at all! Luckily, we were able to catch this gorgeous patch of daffodils right at their peak, and the rest of Smolak Farms was just as photogenic as always. As with most sessions that include toddlers, I was running for about 80% of the time I spent with this energetic family – because running around makes kids happy!

The kids had a blast exploring the farm, playing tag, and getting tossed in the air (they ESPECIALLY loved that part!). Just look at those smiles – nothing forced or cheesy about those!

Bella Ballerina – Business Spotlight

When I first transitioned from the world of education (I was a 6th grade science teacher) to photography, I decided to primarily focus on photographing babies and families. After all, I had babies of my own, and I was certainly passionate about capturing every little nuance of their childhood with my camera.

Then, a few years ago, I started working for Northshore Magazine as a freelance photographer. I still adore working with families and babies, but this new challenge was fun and exciting too! Every shoot was different, and I had to really hone my camera skills in order to capture some very unique settings in often difficult lighting conditions. My assignments have included a wide variety of businesses, including farms, boutiques, fitness centers, spas, local artisans, distilleries, restaurants, and even beautiful beaches. I’ve met many outstanding business owners, and had the opportunity to learn a little about each business, the people that make it successful, and the resources available to our communities North of Boston. In fact, I’ve enjoyed photographing these businesses so much that I’ve started offering Business Spotlight packages for other local businesses who would like to update their brochures, websites, and other marketing materials. Each package is customized to the needs of the business, and can include anything from headshots to architectural images, food photography, and even action shots.

Andover Newborn Photographer -Looking back

After taking a VERY long break from blogging, I was finally motivated to start posting again as I was editing this sweet baby’s first year photos. That’s right, he just turned ONE, and I hadn’t blogged his newborn photos yet! I’ve loved watching him grow throughout the past year during his mini sessions – I’ll try to post those in the coming weeks.

Photographing a newborn and a toddler is always a bit of a challenge, but with a little time, love, and attention, big brother slowed down, snuggled up, and allowed us to get some awesome shots together! The key to capturing this combination is certainly patience 😉

LA Newborn Photographer – itty bitty sweetness

10.01.15

I was going to start this post by apologizing for the excessive number of photos in it….but the truth is that I’m not sorry at all! You see, this bundle of sweetness is my brand new nephew, and I’m sort of obsessed with him 🙂 He was just 19 days old when I first got to breathe in his sweet baby smell, snuggle him into my arms, and stare at him for hours. While I wish he lived a little (ok, a lot!) closer to us, I’m grateful that I had this time with him while he was still itty bitty! Of course, we managed to squeeze in some photos between all of that snuggling. Since he was still so little and new, we opted to keep things simple and did all of the photos inside. In fact, even though they just moved into a gorgeous new house, we ended up sticking to just two rooms with pretty light. With a baby that cute, who cares about pretty scenery?! I’m sure by his 6-month session we’ll be trekking all over Culver City…

If anyone out there is looking for an LA Newborn Photographer (or LA family photographer, or LA maternity photographer, or LA child photographer etc.) let me know! I’d love another excuse to get back to Cali for another visit.

As much as I adored meeting my nephew, I was equally excited to see my sister in her new role as Mommy <3 She's been around babies and kids all her life, so while I wasn't surprised that she was a natural, it was still so beautiful to watch her love and nurture her very own little one. Cape Cod Photographer – Our Family Adventure

Now that the kids are back in school, the weather is finally starting to cool down, and it’s Pumpkin Latte season at Starbucks, I am reliving one of the best summers ever by going through my vacation photos! As usual, we spent two glorious weeks in Cape Cod. Our extended family has grown so much that this year, we opted to get individual cottages around a beautiful lake instead of one large house. It was simply perfect! So perfect, in fact, that we’ve already reserved next year’s trip in the exact same spot! My husband and I grew up vacationing on the Cape, and it’s awesome to see our own kids enjoying things that were such a big part of our childhoods – tidepooling, mini-golf, seafood dinners at picnic tables, watching the sunset at the bay, long walks through salt marshes, and just relaxing at the house with family.

This year, we created some new memories and traditions lakeside! The cottages were adorable, and the kids loved having access to a swim dock, floats, row boats, and kayaks whenever they needed to get some energy out!

We had great weather for most of the trip, but there must have been a pretty crazy storm off shore! The waves at the National Seashore were unlike anything I’ve ever seen! Luckily, things calmed down enough to squeeze in a surf lesson for my husband 🙂 We explored windmills, lighthouses, and a gorgeous hike at Fort Hill – all fantastic adventures that the kids are still talking about!

We even managed to squeeze in a quick family photo shoot with Grammy and Grampy!

But mostly, we just played at the beach! Sunset at First Encounter beach in Eastham is absolutely spectacular, and we tried to get there as often as we could to say goodnight to the sun.

LA Maternity Photographer – Culver City baby

This session was extra special for me, because that’s my gorgeous little sister and her husband, preparing to welcome my newest nephew into the world 🙂 We had a lovely evening walking around their neighborhood in Culver City, CA, trying to incorporate as many of their favorite spots as possible. We strolled downtown, played in the fountain, passed by Culver Studios, visited city hall, and even stopped by their local market for a few shots.

Culver City was an awesome way to capture significant landmarks near their home, but the beach also holds a special place in their hearts. So once we had thoroughly trekked through Culver, we headed to the ocean for sunset. The clouds were ominous at first, but the sun peeked out for just enough time for us to get some beautiful beachy shots. In fact, I think the clouds only made these photos more beautiful!

It was so much fun to catch up with this energetic family again this Spring for a mini-session! The girls have grown so much since their LAST SESSION, and we had a blast playing in the flowers and around the beautiful gardens.
