Boston Family Photographer – He’s a trooper!

I’ve been photographing this beautiful family since before I officially opened the doors of Sarah Jordan Photography. I’ve watched Mom and Dad grow from fun, goofy college kids into fun, goofy (but also responsible, loving, and amazing) parents! I’ve often joked that they are the easiest family ever to photograph; they are super photogenic, their kids are quick to smile, and everyone is so used to snuggling and playing together that it just comes naturally during our sessions. I guess all of that talk had to catch up with me at some point…

This year, big brother came down with an awful case of croup literally ON THE WAY to their session. He emerged from the car with a big frown, and things just got worse as the afternoon progressed. For perhaps the first time ever, I had to work REALLY hard to elicit a smile from this usually easygoing, talkative little boy. But you know, that’s just the way things go sometimes! We were all there and ready, so we decided to give it a go and see how things turned out.

The good news is that he’s now all better, and I don’t think you can even tell how sick he was from these photos 🙂 I’m pretty sure that I captured every single time he smiled during our session. See – it all works out in the end!

Reading MA Family Photographer – Making memories

During this session, we ran, we laughed, we climbed, we played, we jumped, we talked….we just enjoyed spending a couple of hours together on a beautiful fall afternoon. Sessions like this make me so incredibly grateful to have the job I do! When the kids look back on these images years from now, I hope they’ll remember our time together with a smile – because creating memories is truly what it’s all about!
It’s crazy to think that we’ve been looking forward to this session for almost a year now. This was one of the first families to take advantage of my FREE HOLIDAY MINI promotion when they booked their full session last fall. It was fun to meet them at the mini, and then catch up with them again this year! Contact me today if you want to take advantage of this opportunity for your own family!

Laughter and snuggles [North Andover MA Family Photographer]

This family is near and dear to my heart, and I’ve had the honor of photographing them since way back when baby girl was still in her mama’s belly.
I adore how easily they laugh, play, and snuggle. I love how the hugs are comfortable and frequent, and that Mom and Dad aren’t afraid to act a bit goofy. And I am grateful that they all trust me enough to embrace my crazy ideas without hesitation 🙂

Part 2

You may recognize some of these images from Facebook – I couldn’t resist posting a bunch while I was editing the session! (You can “like” Sarah Jordan Photography on Facebook HERE to keep up with the latest news and images).

As I said in PART 1, the connection between family members was tangible. The baby was sleepy, cuddly, and loveable 100% of the time, so we were able to really have some fun with her portraits. Come to think of it, I don’t even think I heard her cry at all during the session! Not exactly typical for a newborn session…

Happy Holidays!

Looking back through the images I’ve taken in the past year makes my heart swell a bit, because each photo evokes memories of the the families I had the pleasure of working with. I have the awesome honor of documenting some of life’s most important milestones – engagements, births, high school graduations – and all of the amazing little moments in between. In fact, it’s those “between” moments that sometimes mean the most. A smile, a smirk, an airplane ride on Daddy’s leg, giggles between siblings, a mother’s gaze…I get to capture it all.

Thank you for an amazing year, everyone. I can’t imagine my life without you in it!

Connection

As I sifted through the images from this session, I realized that they would not all fit in a single post. There are just too many that I love! So here is Part 1…

I have worked with a lot of newborns, and never – NEVER – have I met siblings with such a beautiful connection right from the start. Big bro just cuddled right up to his baby sister, took her hand, gave her kisses, and seemed completely caught up in the magic of the moment. There were no tears, no bribery, no cajoling…what you see is what really happened that day. Now I’m sure these two, like all siblings, will have their ups and downs…but something tells me that they will always have a strong bond.

  1. Chris Johnson says: Sarah, you have gone beyond any expectations that I or anyone else could expect in your session with Casey, Mike, Finn, and Elsa! Yes, they are wonderful subjects (can you tell that I'm Casey's Mom...LOL), but your talent, creativity and patience certainly made these pictures shine as they do. The slideshow with the Taylor Swift song is absolutely beautiful - a tearjerker each and every time I watch it (which happens to be a lot). Thank you soooooooo much for these memories to be cherished forever. Happy holidays to you and your family! Forever thankful, Chris on 12.22.11 @ 12:09 pm

Rain or shine

I was so excited for this family’s second annual photo session – right up until it started raining 10 minutes before we were scheduled to start! We met in the parking lot to discuss our options, hung around in the rain for awhile, and finally decided that we’d need to reschedule for the following day. Of course, the rain stopped as soon as they started driving away and sun began to peek through the dark clouds. I called them to come back, and we were rewarded with perfect light, happy kids, and great fall foliage! Sometimes, a little perseverance goes a long way.

I’m working on designing their album right now, and can’t wait to share a peek of that once it’s finally finished!
